Mantle of the Expert

At the Bealings School an approach called Mantle of the Expert is utilised. This approach is recognised by many, including the Oxford School of Thought, as a very positive learning pathway, emphasising active, hands-on learning, and it encourages children to think critically, creatively, and collaboratively. It also places a strong emphasis on the development of communication skills, as children are often required to work in teams and present their ideas and solutions to their peers.

We have been privileged to learn about Mantle of the Expert from Duncan Bathgate and Kelly McLoughlin in a series of interviews explaining various aspects of the approach. We are pleased to present these on our website in order that more schools will be able to recognise the value of their outstanding work.
